Meet the Founders
Behind every Sweet Rice donut are the hearts and souls of founders, Michael and Naomi. This husband and wife team took their shared love of donuts and transformed it into a family-owned and operated business dedicated to spreading delicious donut goodness far and wide.
From Sweet Beginnings...
Sweet Rice’s journey began in the comforts of Naomi’s home kitchen. With a passion for perfection, she crafted the signature mochi donuts that quickly became favourites among family and friends.
In October 2020, Sweet Rice got their big break – a pop-up at a local ice cream shop. With foot traffic at a minimum amidst a global pandemic, they got creative, connecting with customers one-on-one on social media. It wasn’t long before they discovered their fans in the gluten-free community and those with a love for unique desserts.

By 2021, Sweet Rice had set up shop in a shared commercial kitchen. The spot? Not perfect. The vibe? Unbeatable. Come rain or shine, Naomi and Michael hand-delivered their treats, an effort that quickly turned customers into friends. Their approach was simple – make every order special and every story heard. As 2022 rolled in, so did new challenges. Growing demand, life’s twists, and even a looming kitchen demolition tested them, but Sweet Rice saw it as a chance to rethink and reinvent.
Today, Sweet Rice is more than donuts. It’s a space of transparency and trust, welcoming everyone to a business built on heart – not just hustle.
